KB10136: Outlook Express -
Verify your e-mail setup.
Summary: Guide to verifying that you
are using the correct mail settings. If you are having
problems with mail and are using outlook express check
here first.
Symptom
If you are experiencing problems accessing or sending
mail using outlook express, follow this information to
verify your setup.
Verify your Settings
Open up Outlook Express.
Click on Tools, then Accounts.
Click on the Mail tab, and then highlight
your setup, and push properties
Click on the General tab and verify your settings
are the same as shown below. Make sure to substitute
your information for Name and Email address.
Click on the Server Tab and verify that you
are using mail.lanzing.net for both your incoming
and outgoing mail server. Your username should be in the
format of user@lanzing.net. Check the box that says
My server requires authentication.
Outgoing on the screen above, push settings. verify
that the box that says use same settings as my
incoming mail server is checked. The screen should
look like it does below.
Click on the security tab, all should be left blank,
and algorithm should be set to 3DES.
Click on the advanced tab. All the check boxes
should be unchecked and your Outgoing (SMTP) should be
set to 25. Your Incoming (Pop3) should be set to 110 .
You have now verified your setup . Push Apply
to make any changes final and try to access your mail.
