KB10171: How to Disable Call
Waiting
Summary: The Call Waiting feature
(provided by your phone company) can cause you to
disconnect from the internet when a call comes in. This
article describes how to disable Call Waiting using the
LanZing.Net dialer.
OVERVIEW
The Call Waiting feature (provided by your phone
company) can cause you to disconnect from the internet
when a call comes in. You may want to disable this if
you do not want your internet experience interrupted.
Call Waiting is disabled by dialing a certain phone
code prior to dialing the number. Usually, this is
something like *70 or 70#. Each phone
company may have a different code, so you may need to
check the front of your phone book, or call your phone
company to find out specifically what code to use.
HOW-TO
- Double-click the LanZIng.Net dialer icon on your
desktop.
- Click Properties.
- Check To Disable Call Waiting, dial:.
- In the drop-down box, enter the disable code
provided by your phone company. Common codes are
provided in the drop-down list, such as *70, but
you may wish to contact your phone company to verify
this is correct.
NOTE: A comma in a dial string (i.e.
*70,555-1234) tells the modem to pause briefly. This
forces the modem to not dial too quickly, which can
sometimes cause a call to fail. When typing in your
disable code, it is a good idea to add a comma (,) at
the end.
- Click OK.
You're done!
